27 Mar 2009 So…
 |  Category: Important Category  | Comments

I don’t think that you quite understood what I was meaning. When I said, “Dad has decided to start a whole bunch of posts with the word ‘I’” I meant in the post title… I use “I” a lot within the post itself… but people who read the RSS (if there are any people who read this at all) would not be able to see who wrote the post…

On the note of my signing of posts I do it for the same reason that a King wears a crown… to remind all thee lowly peasants that I am your ruler and you need to respect me for I have the hat:

I have a feeling that this is not my hat of power...

I have a feeling that this is not my hat of power...

Closer but I dont think this one is it either...

Closer but I don't think this one is it either...

Much closer but still not it...

Much closer but still not it...

WHOA!!!! Way too much power in that hat...

WHOA!!!! Way too much power in that hat...

That looks about right...

That looks about right...

Supreme Chancellor Jimmy signing off…

Well, it seems that people viewing our website are getting more of a taste of our family than we can put into words. They are getting insight into the struggles of a family with an 18 year old boy who has way too much time on his hands ;-) to be able to express his desire to take over the world.

Just to clear the record, when you receive a post from me on this site, it is either something that has caught my eye that I wanted to share with you, or it is something I am experiencing or feeling that I share. So that being the case, yes, I do use “I” a lot which references something coming from me. It is obvious that the post is coming from me as a personal perspective, and so I don’t have to keep writing “Jim said…” or “Jim thought…” the “I” will simply do its job.

Also, while I am at it. Have you ever noticed that I don’t sign a post? Why should I, the author is listed under the title of the post, and yes, it is in “lower case” (because that’s how the internet was designed) and having it there is enough for me. So to the “so called” ruler of the world, why do you feel it is necessary to sign your posts “Supreme Chancellor Jimmy”? If you truly were a supreme chancellor, would you have to keep reminding us? I love you little boy, but you are a goofy sort.

Well, thanks for joining us in this little educational moment.  I had fun, hope you did too…

And on another note completely unrelated to the post title… I would like to say that I am very disappointed with the way things have been run on this site in my absence… Dad has decided to start a whole bunch of posts with the word “I”… suggesting that this is his web site… I have no idea what made him think that but it needs to stop immediately…

On a second note that is more related to the post title than my last note but still not all that relevant… are these notes sticky notes???

On my third and final note (maybe) which is completely unrelated to the first two notes but not so unrelated to the post title I have recently figured out that I am an artist… and bu artist I mean that I am a sculptor… and by sculptor I mean that I can make stuff out of mud… I also figured out that I can take pictures of said mud sculptures and that they look really cool….

here is an example of one ( not to mention the only one) of these mud sculpture pictures that I took yesterday…

I call it "Mud Apple on a fence"

I call it "Mud Apple on a fence"

I thought that I should add that I made it out of mud while building a garden…

Your welcome for sharing the beauty that is a picture I took with you,

Supreme Chancellor Jimmy

I recently got a hand-me-down laptop from my wife for me to use while on the truck. It is an HP Pavilion dv9408nr. It is a nice enough laptop, it has a 17″ widescreen monitor, I upgraded to 2GB RAM, the 160GB drive is a little small for me but it does have a second bay for an additional SATA drive so I will probable make use of that.  One problem I have had is that it has a built in nvidia graphics card but video performance has always seemed to, well suck. The laptop came with Windows Vista Home Premium (I know, problem number 1).  As an OS, I like Vista, for the most part.  Although I have used Windows 7 and am very much looking forward to its release.  I have tried Vista Ultimate with a clean install, but still the performance just isn’t that great. I have always attributed the slow laptop to the fact that it has an AMD processor (I am so very much an intel man).

Finally, I got curious and decided to install a linux distro on it to see if I could do anything better. To my suprise, with a 64-bit version of Ubuntu 8.10, this thing ROCKS!!!  Graphic performance is very good, the programs all run quickly, and with wine I can still install some of my favorite Windows app, and for those that don’t I can run Windows in a VirtualBox on top of linux and even run them seamlessly together with the linux bar across the top of the screen, the start bar along the bottom and windows of both OS’s in between.

All in all, I have to say I am impressed, and there seems to be a free, open source app to replace almost everything we do with expensive apps in Windows…  I guess we’ll see where this leads.

02 Mar 2009 I thought this was amazing… I can’t wait!
